This book was on an interesting topic — eugenics in NC. But the message would have been far more radical if the narrator had actually had learning differences, been profoundly disabled, or been promiscuous. Instead she's facing the threat of sterilization mostly due to family circumstance. It’s commentary felt hollow to me.
